Hosting a bachelorette party is a lot of work but also a lot of fun. One of the best ways to spice up your planning is by choosing a bachelorette party theme that will add a special dimension to the event. There are many ways to accomplish this.
A simple color theme might be the way to go. All you do is ask everyone to wear a certain color. It might be a dark or naughty color like red, dark purple, or black. It might be a sweet and innocent color like pink or white.
You could also all dress up in the bride’s favorite color, or if you all went to the same high school or university, wear your school colors. Another fun idea here is to have everyone in the entourage wear one color, and the bride wear another, contrasting shade the girls in black and she in white, for example.
Having a color scheme lets everyone at the bar or club know who is in the group, and definitely creates a feeling of camaraderie.
Another fun theme idea is Las Vegas or poker night. The girls don’t necessarily have to dress up for this, but you can deck out the party space appropriately, either choosing dim, backroom lighting or bright twinkling Christmas lights (to simulate the flashing lights of the slot machines).
Set up a poker table, and buy naughty playing cards (adorned with pictures of male models). You can play real poker with chips, or turn it into a drinking game. For an extra special touch, hire a “professional” dealer wearing only his poker apron and visor.
If you’ve got the budget for it, and enough girls are present to justify it, you might also hire a scantily-clad young man to make and serve drinks to the table. Other games and activities should center around betting, drawings, and chance.
Your bachelorette party theme, especially if you are staying at home for your celebration, could be a retro “Back to High School” event. Depending on how old you are, you might set a 70s, 80s, or 90s theme.
Ask everyone to wear clothing from the chosen decade, and to wear their hair appropriately. To set the mood, it is crucial to burn a few CDs with the most well-known and loved songs from that decade. You can put a television on in the background with one of the bride’s favorite movies (sound down, obviously).
And, if you can manage it, make your food choices match the theme. If the bride always chowed down on Blue Ranch Doritos and loved Mountain Dew, you will definitely want to have those and other retro options on the refreshment table.
This theme allows the bride and her friends to reminisce about old times, and the older songs (plus alcohol) will definitely get everyone singing and dancing.
Your bachelorette party theme can be as simple or as complicated as you like, involving the party set-up, or the way the guests will dress. Whatever you choose, be sure to let the ladies know of any special requirements beforehand and you’ll be well on your way to a unique and memorable celebration.
